Identify and Respond to Children and Young People at Risk

  • The course covers all aspects of the legal, ethical and duty of care responsibilities for working with children. Participants will also learn about their responsibilities regarding the identification and reporting of abuse or neglect.


  • This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to support and protect children and young people who are at risk of harm.


  • This course is suitable for anyone working in long day care, family day care, preschool and outside of school hours (OOSH) care services.

  • This unit of competency applies to training under the Education and Care Services National Law, and the Education and Care Services National Regulations (2011).

  • Entry Requirements
    There are no formal academic requirements for this qualification however, NIVT requires that all learners:

    • Be at least 18 years old

    • A Valid USI (Unique Student Identifier) - create one by click HERE, if you haven't got one

    • Successfully complete the pre-enrolment interview; and

    • Successfully complete the Language, Literacy, and Numeracy (LLN) assessment

  • Course Fee: $150

  • Duration: 1 day (8 hours)  

Students who successfully complete this nationally recognised training will be awarded the Statement of Attainment in
